Covid-19 came as a seismic shock to the world in 2020; it dominated peoples lives and the media. However, as vaccine rollouts and better treatments allow us to slowly return to ‘normal’ it is important for us to take time to decide what ‘normal’ should be. After all, there is a much larger global crisis which is happening now, global warming and climate change. Whilst Med ResQ provides an essential medical support service to travelers, flying patients and medics around the world generates significant amounts of CO2, contributing to climate change. Med ResQ takes its carbon responsibilities very seriously and as part of Med ResQ’s approach to take responsibility for our impact on the environment, we have partnered with climate and sustainable development experts ClimateCare to offset carbon emissions associated with all commercial flights booked by Med ResQ.

As well as taking actions to reduce our carbon footprint through limiting unnecessary travel and educating staff on good sustainable practices, our unavoidable emissions will be offset through a number of different projects including two world-leading clean cooking projects in Kenya and Ghana. These projects not only cut carbon emissions, helping tackle climate change, they improve lives by halving fuel bills for families and reducing their exposure to toxic fumes. By cutting fuel requirements the projects also reduce deforestation and protect precious habitats.

ClimateCare is dedicated to tackling climate change and improving lives. It aims to make our world a climate neutral one – where everyone takes full responsibility for their carbon footprint. ClimateCare helps organisations take responsibility for their climate impact by financing, developing and managing carbon reduction projects across the world. Based in Oxford and Nairobi, ClimateCare helped create the voluntary carbon market and pioneered carbon finance for community development projects. Some of the largest carbon offsetting programmes in the world are delivered by ClimateCare. Leading organisations and governments trust ClimateCare to solve complex climate and sustainability issues. With ClimateCare by their side, they can be confident on their journey to Net Zero. As an award-winning profit with purpose Certified B Corporation, ClimateCare is recognised as setting the highest standards.
